4 Miles Down, 20 To Go...This Week

Even though the weekly miles are starting to go up, logged 21 miles last week and have 24 miles scheduled for this week, the runs (at least the shorter ones) seem to be getting easier.

During our little over a mile walk back home, after our 4 mile run today, we both looked at each other and said, “Did we just run 4 miles? It sure doesn’t feel like it.” Then we both laughed and said, “Hopefully we can say that during the marathon!” It is hard to believe that in just 3 weeks of training we are already getting used to running longer distances.

We started our run around 5:00 pm and just ran around the neighborhood. The weather was pretty good for running. The temperature was 84 degrees, and although the humidity was around 83%, it was still good for running because it was pretty overcast for most of our run.

We finished our 4 mile run in 43:05, which is a 10:46 minute a mile pace. That was definitely faster than we planned on running it. We didn’t even feel like we were running that fast. At our first mile I looked down at my watch to check our pace. I was like whoa! Rob said, “Yeah, I know we are a little slow today.” “Actually, we are ahead of our 12 minute a mile pace” I said. We were both surprised to find out that we were at 11:15 for our first mile. We felt good at that pace, so we kept that pace for a little while and then picked up the pace, just a little bit, between miles 2 and 4.

Today’s run felt amazing. We feel better every time we run. We are so glad we decided to take on this 26.2 mile journey!
